“You Sing!” A Vocal Performance Workshop
Women in Jazz presents “You Sing!” A Vocal Performance Workshop on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Carver Museum Boyd Vance Theater, 1165 Angelina Street, Austin, TX.
At only $45 ($35 for students with ID), instructors Pamela Hart, Kellye Gray and the legendary Dr. James Polk will take singers to another level of performance as they learn through coaching and practice with piano, bass and drums to:
Communicate with the band
Improvise as they sing (feel the swing)
Perform, not just sing
Use phrasing and different rhythms
.. and more.
Whether you want to sing with a band, be a better karaoke singer or lead a praise team, this vocal performance workshop is for you.

Best Little Listenin’ Room in Texas
La Grange – Setpember 25th – The Bugle Boy – www.thebugleboy.com for tickets to this non-profit listening room in the heart of Texas. Join Kellye and company (Pamela York/piano, Chris Maresh/bass, Scott Laningham/drums) at this vintage WWII army barracks turned music venue. The new theater seating makes for a comfy evening of listening. Great selection of wines and beers. They know what they want here at this little venue and what they want is for you to listen to the great music that’s being played onstage. Mostly known as a venue for singer-songwriters the room is popular with everyone from Kinky Freedman to Kat Edmundson.
Come on down and spend the night at a local B&B or journey 20 minutes down the road to great locations like Round Top, Smithville or even Brenham (the place that cows think is heaven).

Cezanne in Houston Sept 18th
September 18 — One night only — two shows 9 and 11 pm — Kellye returns to this historic jazz venue in the heart of Houston’s Montrose district. Cezanne jazz club is a listening room that has limited seating and was voted one of the top 100 jazz clubs in the United States by Downbeat magazine.
Arriving early to claim your seats is highly recommended since the club does not take reservations. Cover charge of $20 will be added to your bill.
Joining Kellye onstage: Jake Langley on guitar, Chris Maresh on bass and Scott Laningham on drums.
